Back online! Been a few days…

 

Everquest

If you’ve known me for awhile, you know I’ve been smoking EverCrack for about 9 years now, and I think it’s time to start to include EQ in my blog now that I’m playing regularly again..

 

 

Bewboo - This is what my screen looked like the majority of the day. I started off with me daily quest (got a the mantle (below)) and I got hooked on the hobgobs for the daily exp grind. I think I got revenge for all the times they pwned Bamlador back in the day. Amazing how times change and I rip these apart at level 57/58. So I pretty much spent the whole day in Plane of Nightmare, and collected experience, iron and meat. I leveled 59 and ended up getting the 5 AA for Hobble of Spirits (YAY I CAN SNARE) … goals will change surely…

 

 

EQ Goals:

1.    Level Bewboo to 59 and Hobble of Spirits AA

2.    Trave – work on master baking trophy

3.    Bamlador – Progress in Epic 1.5 quest

 

Other Games

 

Mafia Wars (FB) – Leveled 204… I like the new interface… so much less lag

Café World – made level 44 (Pots and Pans Cheiftain)… My nemesis and old eq buddy has vanished from the game, and I am soon to come back… muahahahaha

Ponzi, Inc. – Now this is the first blog entry about this game. It’s a neat little business simulation that I’ve attached myself to lately. Apparently I’m the only of my friends that care to play it, but I enjoy it. I made level 8 (Assistant Director) and its quite a fun game, even though there’s no one to challenge me

 

Math

Sorry math fans, have really been slacking in this department, but will update tomorrow.. Should have the first section of Algebra COMPLETE (yay)

I’m really going through some serious Everquest withdrawls… I quit for years! (and I still payed for it) ironic, I can’t pay for it, and I want to play… Wow just doesn’t have the endgame… it can rot (sorry WoW fans)

 

OK… I didn’t level anything in any games today and I still haven’t worked on math… I’m a slacker

 

BUT I’ve been looking at A = LU factorizations (for those hardcore math people that understand that equation), is fascinating me and I tried to look at a Strang’s Lecture 4 linear algebra, and maybe its just one of those things I’ll never get… Elementary matrices blow my mind, but they’re elementary… I should practice more… it’s a very hard concept to teach…

 

Looking to teach at Tivy, will send resume this weekend… other schools hiring too… looking hopefull…

Yes yes yes I am the inevitable blog slacker… Holidays, company, life, etc… Anyway I try…. I probably have less dedicated blog readers than I do blog writers J anyway

 

So my classes are slowly slowly dwindling down in population… My Night classes are still kickin though. Day classes not too happy about, and my day class was doing so well..

 

Moving into the decimals realm in I-1 and quadratics in I-3 realm… and I’m still “faking it” through reading and writing… Fundamental math I just took over is interesting… that’s really all I have to say about that class..

 

I have not even touched my algebra project since Thanksgiving… I’m such a slacker! Back to it tomorrow maybe

 

Everquest is on hold until the 15^th until I get paid so I can play… lifes a bitch eh? Bewboo level 53.. found a friend and guilded them and account poofed… great… love playin’ that beastlord class though, will be back to it in two weeks.

 

Café world… my lord, my nemesis totally started to kick my freakin ass over the holidays… and is now a good 12,000 points ahead of me… I fear I cannot catch up..

 

Mafia wars.. my interest in this game is slowly dwindling away… but I made 203 and I am trying to grind out that Boss tier… not to much more to go so it may pick back up.

 

Farm town.. now here’s a game I just about gave up on… then they changed it and made it a bit easier to level… added levels, crops and things… a second farm. Farm #2 at level 44 (I’m 38) so I’m back there daily, trying to maintain crops that limit my time…

 

Fish world… made level 42 (Kingfish VIP) and got the main tanks back and added some more sharks… Sharks are good, just bring them up and make money without clicking or losing money… more sharks, faster they clear the tank (and yeah its fun to watch)

 

That’s about all I got.

thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving… mine was wonderful, my family visited and I cooked yams and lambs (ok not really) … porkchops and yams, my mom made some crazy cheesewiz rice casserole and we had a nice visit together in my small little apartment… updates returning soon… everquest on hold for awhile while I make some financial changes (yeah those)… farm town updates change my motivation to play… and my rival in Café World totally overcame me on my hiatus during the holidays… did no math either… back to teaching and actually gonna apply for some jobs on my day off…

I heard a song today by the Raconteurs, called Salute your Solution… I’ve heard it a few times, but it’s a fairly motivating song about the situation I’ve been in and thought it relates to my life and others of my past… The motivations are a bit different but that’s how I feel at times…

 

Anyway had Monday completely off work, so I got a bunch of math done. Section 4 of the first section audio is recorded, and the 3^rd section is complete as far as hand written exercises and slides with no audio. Got some work on Section P-4 done also. Caught up on V… great show so far, not sure how to compare it to the original, mainly because I was very young when it was on. I notice one thing about the new show is that their disguises are a bit more intricate than they were in the original show. And of course, the Visitors have quite a bit more technology than they did in the 80s.

 

In Café World, the rival is still neck and neck. I actually passed my good friend, but she came back and passed me. It’s the back and forth rivalry that makes the game fun, not the game…

The more I play Mafia Wars, the more it’s just a bunch of monotonous clicking… and isn’t that the same with most of the other games on Facebook? Why I submit myself to this misery of entertainment I don’t know. But think about it… 10 million people submit their selves to monotonous clicking… so maybe there’s a pot of gold at the end of the monotonous clicking rainbow … all I see now is a leprechaun… anyways…

 

Again I worked at the part time job most of the day, but made some time to sneak out some math updates (can’t have a day without those, they’re listed below of course.) My nemesis in Café World is well off ahead of me now… I am not sure that I can catch her unless she falls asleep one day.. but we are close enough to have the same advantages… I don’t see why I can’t try to do it…

 

Off tomorrow so I hope to have some audio blitzer updates for the devoted math nuts out there… need to clean some and do some laundry and maybe I can squeeze some EverQuest time in too…

What a long day… worked most of it… but I found some time to get some stuff done… I woke up fairly early (8:00 on a Saturday when I’m not teaching is pretty early for me)… Logged into everquest and played my beastlord, who I think I’m gonna give a shot for awhile between my #2 alt Trave. Maybe I just need to lay off my main for awhile… I’m sure he’ll get his attention in due time. I can’t afford the next expansion (hell I dunno if I can afford to pay for eq much less next expansion, but will keep on trying)

 

In 2005 UT won the national championship and went undefeated, my high school went undefeated and won Division 1 3A class Texas state championship… This year, UT again is undefeated and my hometown (although not undefeated) won Area playoffs against Iowa Park 31-14. They have some tough competition ahead of them… I’m glad that Colt McCoy is having a good senior year, he’s such a good kid… Not sure the same fares for the Texans of Wimberley, but they’re still in it…

My rival in Café world is completely kicking my ass, and I dunno if I can catch up… but I’ll dam sure try… right now she’s ahead by 2500 points… didn’t do much of anything special gaming anywhere else…

 

As I write this, I’m waiting for my merc to revive to res me because I forget I’m playing a lowbie character and not my 18K tank that can jump of the cliff in emerald jungle and live… tata all

Friday was pretty laid back… Hung out at the house, spent most of the day trying to catch my arch-nemesis in Café world… she’s way up on me now :/ Worked on the algebra project some. Took a break around 5:30 and played some rock band, and a cop knocks on my door saying its too loud… at 5:30! Playing from a TV set … wow some unreal people around here calling the cops at 5:30 pm… other than that it was just another lame day, but with little to pressures of life so can’t complain.

In retrospect, I really start to wonder and think about what bad shape my life is in now. When I was 17 years old, I worked as a grill cook at a restaurant called John Henry’s … I left as a senior member of the staff. I know that the owner paid me less because I was young, but still… what I made then is damn near what I make now at my part time job… I have a freakin degree too! For gods sake, I need to figure out what I need to do! I’m a very talented mathematician, I know this… and punk ass self esteem-students to get in my face and tell me otherwise bounce off me like rubber and glue… I need to move on, I need to figure out how and what my direction is… I can’t figure it out.

 

I worked at the the partime job, so I didn’t get anything done other than admin crap. I am feeling 100% percent better, no pain and I’m thinking of searching for some new jobs tomorrow…

 

My nemesis in Café world has proceeded to kick my ass all over the place… she’s a good 1000 points ahead of me and really really going to be hard to catch up with her… I know she took advantage of a sale that is no longer available, and its kickin me in the teef… good job J

 

Fishworld levels are a bit harder to get now… I’m trying to figure out how to take advantage of sharks and their workfree experience, but I think I need all sharks in the same tank for the effect to work… they don’t work offline, will be fun to figure out how to take advantage of this … in the future, I think I’m only going to put sharks in my first tank, and then use the others as grinding grinding grinding… I only have 17 tanks, I can get 50… eww the monotony of 50 tanks, I like the game but damn….

 

In Mafia wars I leveled 198… the more I play the more I lose interest… strugging through the final tier of boss stage… I think mostly its because I’m so competitive in Café world, and café world take so much computing resources its insane

What a rough day… I didn’t sleep much last night… I finally decided that my tooth was abscessed. Called my dentist, they gave me a prescription and sure enough I feel 1000% better. Called in sick, worked a lot of math out but not as much as I should of…

 

Actually logged into Everquest today. Repatched, reloaded my ui. Turns out the guy that designs my UI is someone I used to be in a guild with. I use the Delta X UI in everquest. I just logged in Trave and played around. Usually I rush on Bamlador and try to level him, but I think I’m going to change my pace and work on my lowbies some. I would like to see all of them reach a higher multiple of 5 before I refocus on BamBam.

I I didn’t feel very well today… I had some really bad cramps late this evening, they’re feeling a bit better, but I’m not too comfortable… I hope its nothing serious… I got a lot done in math today, not as much as I would of liked, but I had to stop because I’m not feeling so well. Mathematically I didn’t get much done… I worked this morning and afternoon and haven’t been feeling well all day… Came home took a nap to hope to feel better before teaching tomorrow, but to not much avail… I did upload a slide I finished last night, and fixed some errors that were linked wrong. I might finish some more after writing my blog…

 

The gaming I did today was purely Facebook, and for about an hour, ok maybe 2 hours /shrug Fish World, I leveled 36, with title Fish Master at 80,000 points. Café world… the rival game… I came home and had a pretty comfortable 3000 point lead over my “rival”, and would you believe 4 hours later she had passed my score already! Grrr so close its fun… I caught back up, but not by much… the score is Me: 67,179 them 66,992… very very close

 

Mafia wars is having a special on new York tier with double loot… My character finally mastered the second boss tier and is on the third. He leveled 195. He also upgraded all his Cuban business and got the “Tycoon” achievement.

 

Pretty lame day overall, hope I am feeling better tomorrow.

I had a fairly productive day today. I primarily did some behind the scenes admin math crap. Proud of Judd Benner, he got my problem correct on Justin Farmer’s facebook blog. I must say I’m very impressed… here’s the problem…

 

The perimeter of a rectangular table top is 34 feet. The difference between 4 times the length and three times the width is 33 feet. Find the dimensions.

My best friend Justin is a carpenter, and doesn’t quite have the enthusiasm for math that I do. So I try to send him a problem related to carpentry (there’s not a whole lot that involves linear algebra like this one) And Judd, probably one of the last people I would ever thought of attempting the problem, solves it! I don’t know if Judd solved the problem the same way I would, but he got the answer correct… and he’s in a METAL BAND! Woohoo! But now Justin won’t even try it, so maybe the next blue moon, I’ll find something related to Justin’s world… anyways…

 

I added P-2B and I will try to get P-2C done tonite … slides with no audio and the correct solutions… already found some wrong answers with my paper solutions… apparently 2^6 isn’t 32. Hopefully will get some more P-1 with audio tomorrow.

 

So on to gaming…. Cause if you know me I’m a big time gamer…

 

There was a time in my life, that the first thing I would do when I got out of bed was patch Everquest and then make the coffee… but nowadays, I just can’t find the time for the grind… I should because I still pay for it… maybe something Everquest related will soon be in my blog… 16^th expansion, Underfoot, is released in the next few days… My character would probably get pwned in any of the zones there…

 

Facebook games dominate my time, and I can’t say I’m too proud of it… my competitive nature in gaming is pretty scary. I started playing this game Fish World, it’s nice and relaxing and I like fish… my dad has a fish tank and he loves his fish, so I have a virtual fish tank and I love my fish, I suppose. One neat thing is my cousin Terri, who I never thought I’d have anything in common with gamer wise, also plays. So it’s a strange connection… but of course my competitive nature forces me to obliterate her score (she’s the top of my friends list though, woohoo for Terri!)… So I attained the rank of Fish Hotshot, level 35 today, (75,000 points) go me.

 

Café World… I used to be a cook, so I like cooking games… my friends laugh at me, I play a game I downloaded from www.realarcade.com/ (more to come from this in future blogs I’m sure) called Burger Shop… and it’s a time management game, very similar to being a grill cook. I don’t know if I could take that pressure again, standing in front of a 500 degree grill with orders for 10 steaks cooked 5 different ways, to go out at the same time with their specific side orders and so on… but with burger shop, if I fuck up, game over big deal right?

 

Anyway, so make a little Café in Café world, and I’m No. 1 and I have all these levels and exp and so forth… but the game takes up some serious memory and I’m about to give up playing, when my long lost best-gamer buddy (and she knows who she is) starts playing too… and I’m all cool at first because I got a ton of levels and she just started out… But now, we’re neck and neck literally, one day I’m ahead, next day she’s ahead, and I only continue this misery of a game (which I must admit is fun) to be competitive with her… So my I leveled 33 today and that’s my Café world experience… and I finished out ahead, by about 3,000 points over my good buddy…

 

So gaming wise… I hope I at least log into EQ in the next 7 days… or eq2, or maybe World of Warcraft, which I also pay for but lost complete interest in after leveling a 80 hunter and can pretty much kill everything zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz … Realarcade update on the 18^th (you get 2 free games a month with a membership now) and possibly an EQ update to come…

Saturday Morning Update

Well for one this is a test of my e-mail blogger, need to test the mobile blogger to but I doubt I’m so crazy as to update my website from my phone, but you never know… maybe a picture or a video or something…

 

Anyway, crazy night. I fell asleep on the couch about 10:00 pm and woke up to a good friend of mine knocking on my door. So I don’t go back to sleep and I had a fairly productive night. I’ve made changes to my website, adding this blog and a calendar which I hope I can use to let my students and potential protégés (yeah I like that word, too bad I don’t have any) know my schedule and things they missed in class.

 

So I’ve been did a bit of college algebra, but I didn’t finish anything substantial enough to consider it an update.

 Its 7:45 am and I’m dead tired…

I'm crazy bad about not updating what's been updated! I know I know... Anyway's, I've been working hard on some College Algebra coursework using Blitzer's newest edition... its good stuff. Blitzer is a very challenging mathematician, but he puts a TON of research into his work. I hope that he'll approve of my work someday...
